We can’t let the Italians have all the fun, so how about some German flare? We travel across the Alps and begin the process again with the extravagant art(and outfits!) of Joachim Meyer’s circa 1560s manuscript Thorough Descriptions of the Art of Fencing. As a clothing and textile designers, who are also students of historical sword fighting, SwordGeek’s Boutique brings together the things we love most! The richly detailed art of these manuscripts have provided us endless design inspiration for items for home and body, walls and sofas. What better way to proclaim your passion for all things swordy than bling that features the art of the time from the actual manuals our predecessors studied from?
About Sword Geek’s Boutique
For several years the folks at Historica Clothier’s have been designing vintage inspired, unique, high quality clothing and accessories.The many inspirations for our work includes all manner of historical sources including medieval art and fashion as well the romantic, larger-than-life NeoGothic reinterpretation of the 19th century. Our lead designer, Nicole Allen, is also a long time practitioner of Italian Medieval and Renaissance Martial Arts, or in other words, she swordfights for fun.
In 2017 she was inspired to create custom textiles in support of the production of Flowers of Battle (www.indiegogo.com/projects/flowers-of-battle-medieval-martial-arts#/) Indiegogo campaign sponsored by Freelance Academy Press (www.freelanceacademypress.com) that has successfully produced a high quality facsimile of the beautifully illustrated Medieval Martial Arts fight books(there are multiple versions extant) named il Fior di Bataglia, circa 1409. As a result, we got a ton of interest from folks about making more and so SwordGeeks was conceived. Now let’s get to the really fun part…cool stuff we’ve made with you in mind!
