They say the language of love is French. In our case, it’s the language of fencing! Delving into the detailed images of Gérard Thibault d’Anvers’ Academie de l’Espée brought us much inspiration! We are really excited about this phase of the project – translating these beautiful images into textile designs. Have a favorite image you’d like to see? Let us know!
Our Thibault poster is inspired by Gérard Thibault d’Anvers’ Academie de l’Espée (1630). We have created a detailed poster inspired by one of the most elaborate illustrations in the book – describing the angles of the human body as they relate to swordfighting.
As a clothing and textile designers, who are also students of historical sword fighting, SwordGeek’s Boutique brings together the things we love most! The richly detailed art of these manuscripts have provided us endless design inspiration for items for home and body, walls and sofas. What better way to proclaim your passion for all things swordy than bling that features the art of the time from the actual manuals our predecessors studied from?
