About Sword Geek’s Boutique
For several years the folks here, at Historica Clothier’s, have been designing vintage inspired, unique, high quality clothing and accessories.The many inspirations for our work includes all manner of historical sources including medieval art and fashion as well the romantic, larger-than-life NeoGothic reinterpretation of the 19th century. Our lead designer, Nicole Allen, is also a long time practitioner of Italian Medieval and Renaissance Martial Arts, or in other words, she swordfights for fun.
In 2017 she was inspired to create custom textiles in support of the production of Flowers of Battle (www.indiegogo.com/projects/flowers-of-battle-medieval-martial-arts#/) Indiegogo campaign sponsored by Freelance Academy Press (www.freelanceacademypress.com) that has successfully produced a high quality facsimile of the beautifully illustrated Medieval Martial Arts fight books(there are multiple versions extant) named il Fior di Bataglia, circa 1409. As a result, we got a ton of interest from folks about making more and so SwordGeeks was conceived. Now let’s get to the really fun part…cool stuff we’ve made with you in mind! In addition to our initial items decorated with art from medieval Italian manuscripts we’ve added German designs taken from Joachim Meyer’s circa 1560s manuscript Thorough Descriptions of the Art of Fencing, and Rennaisance Italian images inspired by Ridolfo Capferro’s richly illustrated treatise “Great Representation of the Art and Use of Fencing” from 1610 and Gérard Thibault d’Anvers’ Academie de l’Espée (1630).
